The new landmark headquarters of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK), one of the projects constructed for eight years by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation LTD., was officially inaugurated on April 10th, 2017. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah together with key Cabinet’s members attended the grand opening ceremony.

This 235-meter tall modern office building takes the shape of a boat sail reminding onlookers and visitors of the national civilization in sailing. The total area of the site is 25,872 square meters and the tower includes eight gates to facilitate entrance and exit from all sides of the building. It has multi-storey car parking facility that accommodates 1,264 cars. The building comprises 35 highly-sophisticated meeting halls, a cafeteria, a theater, and a museum. It has seven training halls, a pressroom, four VIP meeting rooms, and an information center. The successful completion of the project symbolizes the combination of Kuwait’s financial prowess and cultural connotation.

The Central Bank of Kuwait Headquarters has been printed on the back of the latest issued Five Kuwaiti Dinar banknote, which fully demonstrates the significance of the project in Kuwait and has become one of the most shining advertising cards among CSCEC’s completed overseas projects. Meanwhile, the staffs of Kuwait Representative Office have stood firm in frontline for 8 years, made tremendous contributions in exploring and developing overseas market as well as played a pioneering role in implementation of “One Belt One Road” strategy.

The groundbreaking ceremony of Dubai Silicon Park Project was inaugurated on 27th February, 2017. His Highness Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority unveiled the commemorative plaque and laid the foundation stone of Silicon Park. Madam Li Lingbing, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC ME, Mr. Wu Ming, Executive VP of CSCEC ME, Mr. Wu Chunjun, Chairman of CSCEC 6th Bureau, Mr. Wang Weidong, VP of CSCEC 6th Bureau, representatives from Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Dar Consultant were present at the ceremony as well.

Mr. Yaser Adil Al Mufti, Executive VP of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority spoke very highly about the performance of progress. He expressed that it was a wise decision to choose CSCEC ME to be the main contractor (not as the lowest bidder) for the project and he hoped there would be more opportunities to cooperate with CSCEC ME in the future.

Madam Li Lingbing expressed that CSCEC ME is one of the leading Chinese enterprises in the UAE which she had confidence in CSCEC ME to deliver this project successfully.

Mr. Yu Tao extended appreciation to all the external efforts and supports, and he expressed that there would be more cooperation in the coming years between China and the UAE as the 2020 Expo is upcoming and the strategy of “One Belt and One Road” is promoting. CSCEC ME would like to take this opportunity to make more contributions to the construction field.

Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCEC ME received the Letter of Acceptance from Dubai Road & Transport Authority (RTA) to be the Main Contractor for M1003/12 – Annual Maintenance of Asphalt Pavement on February 9th and the contract value is about US Dollars 35 Million.

The scope of work comprises all demolishment and repair works related to asphalt pavement such as removal of existing surface, road, paved shoulders, service roads, parking, lays-bys, ducts, etc. all over Dubai with the total duration of 3 years.

This project will help us gain more experience for our Paving Team and Asphalt Plant. It is the 9th project between RTA and CSCEC ME since 2006. Moreover, it is the 3rd project awarded to Civil & Infrastructure Division in 2017.

Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCECME received the Letter of Acceptance from Dubai Road &Transport Authority (RTA) to be the Main Contractor for R881/3C2 Comprehensive Improvement of Parallel Road on 23rd, January 2017. The total contract value is about AED 800 Million, which is equivalent to US Dollars 216 Million.

The project is the continued extension of Al Asayel Street (D72) and First Al Khail Street (D86), as well as the updating improvement of Al Yalayis Street between Mohamed Bin Zayed Street and Sheikh Zayed Street. This stretch of Al Yalayis Street is intersecting with the both Parallel Roads. The scope includes construction of 6.4 Km of roadways works for Al Yalayis Street, Al Asayel Street and First Al Khail Street. The scope also includes construction of two intersections of Al Yalayis Street with Al Asayel Street and First Al Khail Street.

The two intersections configuration contains evaluated signals and second level bridges for the left turn movement (Southeast direction) with a total length of 620m for each directional bridge.

R881/3C2 Comprehensive Improvement of Parallel Road Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects (according to the contract value) which awarded from RTA in the past few years. This is also the 8th cooperation between RTA and CSCEC ME since in 2006.

Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCEC ME has received the Letter of Acceptance from DAMAC to be the Main Contractor for Akoya Oxygen (P106.07 & P106.08) Infrastructure Works Package 2-5 (547 Villas at cluster Aster & Coursetia and 902 Villas at cluster Odora, Zinnia & Sycamore). The total contract value is AED 117.5 Million which is equivalent to US Dollars 32 Million.

The project site is located at Phase 1 of the Employer’s master development at Al Yufrah 2, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project consists of construction of infrastructure that serves the Employer’s master development ‘Akoya Oxygen’, which includes tiled pavement of approximate length 10.9 km, and the associated utility network along the roads.

This is the second contract awarded by DAMAC to Civil & Infrastructure Division since May 2016 to undertake the construction work in other sections of Akoya Backbone Infrastructure.

IAIR AWARDS is the global award which recognizes excellences in global economy and sustainability. Mr. Yu attended the award presentation ceremony and gala dinner which held on December 15th, 2016 at the Palace Downtown in Dubai and celebrated the joyful moment with other award winners.

The IAIR AWARDS conduct an annual online survey which provides a qualitative and quantitative review of the best firms. In order to guarantee independence, the organizer of IAIR AWARDS decided not to accept paid sponsorships, only free institutional support. Mr. Yu was complimented by IAIR’s panel of industry judges for his international excellence in leadership and a leading contractor in the building and engineering sector. In particular, Mr. Yu provides innovative solution and act as a pioneer leader in the construction field. Some of the past winners include Rockefeller, BNP Paribas, IBM, Deutsche Bank, Royal Dutch Shell, Mercedes-Benz and many others.

IAIR AWARDS is a research institute and a global independent publishing house headquartered in Milan with more than 10 years of experiences in the publishing field, with major shareholders from Europe and Asia. We are pleased and delighted to announce that Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC ME, was awarded Construction Executive of the Year at the Construction Week Awards 2016.

The award ceremony and gala dinner, was hold at the Conrad Dubai on 7 December, 2016 with attendance of more than 400 representatives from the construction industry.

Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC ME, was complimented by Construction Week’s panel of industry judges for the impact that he has had across the Middle East’s construction sector. The judging panel described Mr. Yu Tao as a thought leader and an industry-wide contributor. He was also commended for his transformational skills and clarity of leadership.  Mr. Yuan Bin, the Department Director of Executive General Office of CSCEC ME received the trophy on behalf of Mr. Yu Tao on this occasion.

The 12th Construction Week Awards celebrates the achievements of the region’s construction contractors in the region. The awards seek to recognize and reward individual excellence, outstanding corporate leadership and project success.

Mr. Chen Wenjian, President of CSCEC Overseas Division visited CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C)on 25th November, 2016.

On behalf of CSCEC ME, Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO extended his warm welcome to Mr. Chen Wenjian’s visit and delivered a presentation regarding the business operation of CSCEC ME.

After the presentation, Mr. Chen Wenjian spoke very highly regarding the achievements of CSCEC ME in the Middle East and highly complimented the accomplishments by Mr. Yu and his leading management team. He expressed that CSCEC Overseas Division will do their best to provide the high quality support and service to CSCEC ME.

During their visit, Mr. Chen Wenjian inspected Vicory Hotel Project and Dubai Water Canal Project. The Oath Middle East Legal Awards 2016 was held at Safinah Ballroom, Jumeirah Beach Hotel on 22nd November 2016. The Oath Awards recognize law firms, general counsel and in-house teams who are a cut above the rest and are revolutionizing the region with their outstanding contributions.

Having said that, we are delighted to announce that our very own Mr. Sadique is the winner of the General Counsel of the Year – outclassing some prominent names such as Emirates NBD, DMCC, Drydocks World, etc. Mr. Sadique has also been highly complimented as a Counsel who possesses outstanding qualities in generating innovative ideas and crafting creative solutions in resolving disputes by taking into account the commercial and legal risks.

In addition, CSCEC ME has also been shortlisted for the Excellence in Innovation Award and Legal Team of the Year on this auspicious occasion amongst global giants such as Mott MacDonald, Etihad Rail DB, Abu Dhabi Global Market, etc.

This is indeed a remarkable and significant achievement under the leadership of Mr. Sadique.

On 22nd November 2016, Dubai-based famous media group, CPI held the 2016 edition of the Big Project Middle East Construction and Sustainability Awards of Excellence at Emirates Tower, Dubai. President & CEO, Mr. Yu Tao won the Construction Executive of the Year Award. And the Dubai Water Canal Package II Project defeated many mega projects in the Middle East and won the Infrastructure Project of the Year Award.

After receiving the awards, Mr. Yu expressed that due to the lower oil prices, the construction industry in the Middle East is facing the challenge regarding tight cash flow and delayed payment. However, our management team has insisted on paying close attention to high quality and has good faith in compliance with delivering excellent projects. The success of winning these prominent awards are motivating us to deliver more high-quality projects in the following years.

Big Project Middle East’s Construction and Sustainability Awards of Excellence is an annual event aims to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the individual and leaders in the construction industry throughout the GCC as it strives to maintain the high standards and quality that it is renowned for across the world.
