Announced on 12th May, 2016 by Kuwait Central Tenders Committee, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East) (L.L.C) (CSCEC ME in short) was awarded with the contract to construct the project of Construction, Completion and Operation and Maintenance for Administration Facilities-Sabah Al-Salem University City-Kuwait University with accepted contractual value of KD 174 Million, which is equivalent to US $ 580 Million.

The project is consisting of seven buildings with special & unique shape, such as Administration Building, Grand Mosque, Cultural Centre, Convocation Hall, Conference Centre, University Library and Visitor Centre and etc. The Administration Facilities, creatively designed and functionally served as the main gateway to the university city, are characterized by light lacy screens enveloping that resulted into a very harmonious interactive dramatic effect between the light and shadow. In addition, the flexible perimeter will further explore & expand the space of each facility outward and create a pleasant & tranquil gardenesque living & studying environment.

Sabah Al-Salem University City of Kuwait University is master planned as one of the largest campuses in the world with world class educational facilities equipped with most advanced teaching & learning resources. It is the second package of major building tenders secured by CSCEC ME.

The success of winning the said project is another breakthrough for CSCEC ME to further enhance and promote the implementation of its strategy of regionalized operation in the Middle East, which are mainly characterized and focused on the high-end projects, especially in the building and infrastructure sectors in the GCC at large.

Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCEC ME has won the 2016 International Safety Award with distinction from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2015 calendar year. The celebration gala dinner was held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 6th May, 2016.

In 2016, 436 organizations won an International Safety Award. These winning organizations span all sectors and are drawn from the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

CSCEC ME is one of 30 organizations to win a distinction in the 2016 International Safety Awards. The award criteria measured CSCEC ME’s Civil & Infrastructure Division’s system for various key areas such as the implemented approach for the risk assessment, facilities of first aid and welfare, consultations and approaches for enhancing continuous improvement for HSE Standard.

Now in their 58th year, the International Safety Awards recognize and celebrate organizations from around the world that have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year.

The International Safety Award is a worldwide authoritative award sponsored by British Safety Council. Thus, the annual award ceremony is regarded as the premier event in the field of international occupational health, safety and environment.

The OIA Residence Project held a grand opening ceremony on May 1st, 2016. Mr. Kalid Bin Kalban, Chairman of Union Properties, Mr. Ahmad Al Marri, General Manager of Union Properties and Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC ME, Mr. Tian Sanchuan, Executive VP of CSCEC ME as well as the senior management from Adel Al Mojil Consulting Engineer, Conin Incorporated, DG Jones & Partners and the media reporters attended the ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Yu Tao had a talk with the Chairman of the Union Properties. He expressed that the OIA Residence Project is the first project between CSECE ME and Union Property, and CSCEC ME will try our best to complete it with high quality. The UP Group leadership expressed their high appreciation for CSCEC ME’s achievements in the Middle East region. The UP Group is confident of the successful completion of the project and they look forward to continuing the cooperation in the future. At last, the senior managements from both parties built the block wall together which symbolized the commencement of the project.

Mr. Yu Tao also had a conversation with project staff after the ceremony. He spoke highly of the project team’s great efforts. He analyzed the tight schedule, the project’s location and other difficulties. Mr. Yu Tao hoped the project team could complete the project excellently.

The OIA Residence Project is located at the central area of Motor City next to the Metropole School with 269 units of apartments and associated facilities. There is one basement and 6 levels of super structure. The community is furnished with secure parking, swimming pools, gyms center, squash court and other diverse living facilities.

Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC ME has been featured by the latest issue of Construction Week magazine published on 23rd April, 2016. The interview mainly described of how CSCEC ME had maintained its competitive edge despite the challenging economic climate.

In the interview, Mr. Yu expressed that productive workforce has been targeted as the long term goal for CSCEC ME. Our motivated workforce produce more than our counterparts which allows our Company to maintain the competitive edge in the market. Meanwhile, Mr. Yu introduced the current development of CSCEC ME, which including project financing and investment, consultant management, design building, MEP and steel structure business, apart from keeping competitiveness in the field of traditional engineering construction. CSCEC ME will endeavor to consolidate its competitive advantages by expanding its business from the UAE to the other GCC countries.

Construction Week magazine is one of the leading publications for the construction industry in the GCC as it includes latest news, analysis and comments. They are respected in the Middle East and recognized internationally.

CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) was invited to participate in the Songkran Festival (Thai New Year Day) Celebration hosted by Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi on 22nd April 2016.

During this event, Royal Thai Embassy organized traditional celebrations such as Water Fights. Everyone enjoyed splashing water on each other for blessing. The Royal Thai Embassy also offered free medical check-up and consultation for 31 Thai labors from CSCEC ME.

On behalf of the Company, the Labor & PRO Department presented a gift to Madame Viphawam Benniman, the Minister Counselor of Royal Thai Embassy. Madame Viphawam Benniman expressed her appreciation and congratulation to the glorious performance of CSCEC ME had achieved in the past years, especially impressed by the Company’s excellent labor management. She hoped that both parties could continue a further cooperation in the future.

The representatives from the Labor & PRO Department and other 35 employees from MTB project attended this activity.

Mr. Qian Keming, Vice Minister of Commerce of PRC visited Viceroy Project of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) on 24th Marth, 2016.

Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) and Senior Management of Project Team extended a warm welcome to Mr. Qian and delivered a presentationregarding the business operation of CSCEC and its overseas development, especially emphasizing the new business model of financing and investment as well as positive results in legal cases.

Mr. Qian highly appreciated the accomplishments CSCEC ME had made, especially impressed by our financing investment performance. He expressed that the financial investment of CSCEC ME was an illuminated business model as CSCEC ME was able to make good use of domestic funds to develop the overseas business. He hoped that we could continue closer cooperation with Chinese banks. He also highly praised that CSCEC ME was one of few Chinese enterprises won legal cases overseas which fully reflected the Company’s comprehensive capability.

Viceroy, Dubai, Jumeirah Village Project of CSCEC Middle East was awarded the ‘Tall Buildings’ prize at this year’s prestigious Architectural Review MIPIM Future Projects Awards ceremony held in the main auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on March 18th, 2016.

Viceroy, Dubai, Jumeirah Village Project is the second collaboration between CSCEC ME and Skai Holdings Ltd. The renowned global consultancy WS Atkins which designed Burj Al Arab has been appointed as lead designer of the project.

The project is located at the heart of Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), which is at the junction between Al Khail Road (E44) and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). The proposed 59-storey high-rise tower  is  comprised of a 4-star hotel with 234 hotel rooms, 234 hotel apartments and 30 penthouses, retail, specialty restaurant, and relevant hotel amenities, facilities and support areas.

Viceroy, Dubai, Jumeirah Village Project has been praised to be a convincing structural design which works well at the base, and offers generous amenity space. The unconventional configuration of the building (each floor is rotated from the floor below by 30 degrees) enables the design to maximise the amount of living space, but it also required innovative solutions for its engineering and services. The resulting sky gardens concept has now been patented and registered as a trade mark in 168 countries for SKAI Holdings Ltd.

The MIPIM Awards is an internationally renowned real estate competition took place during MIPIM, the world’s property market.

The MIPIM Awards honour the most outstanding and accomplished projects, completed or yet to be built, around the world. Award categories cover all types of development, from health care to hospitality.

During the Chinese Spring Festival Holidays, Civil & Infrastructure Division of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) held a Chinese Spring Festival Party at Dubai Al Mamzar Beach Park on February 5th, 2016. This activity was well organized and Chinese employees as well as their families, more than 130 person, participated in the activity.

The organizing committee decorated the place, prepared foodand fruits, even prepared gifts for everyone. After the warm lunch, Mr. Dong Wei, Vice President of CSCEC ME cum General Manager of Civil & Infrastructure Division delivered the new-year speech, through which his sincere appreciation to employees’ dedication, new-year greetings and expectations had been forwarded to all the Divisional Chinese staff. Thereafter came the games section, which ushered in the climax of the party.

This activity brought a feast of joy to the overseas Chinese employees who were still on duty during the holidays. Meanwhile, it also enhances the divisional cohesion, enriches the afterhours life of overseas employees and improves the sense of belongings for all the employees.

Mr. Yu Tao, Present & CEO, delivered a speech during the event on behalf of CSCEC ME. He expressed that under the development strategy of One Belt One Road initiated by Chinese Government, CSCEC ME is in an important period of strategic opportunities during which there is a great deal CSCEC ME can achieve. We will adhere to the Company’s blueprint along with wider view and firmer decision. We will further advance the process of regionalized strategy so as to achieve our vision of becoming the largest international contractor in the Middle East.

Building Division of CSCEC Middle East received the Letter of Acceptance from Union Properties PJSC to be the Main Contractor for undertaking the construction of OIA Residence on 6th January, 2016. The total contract value is AED 235 million.

The OIA Residence is located at the central area of Motor City next to the Metropole School with 269 units of apartments and its associated facilities. There is one basement and 6 levels of super structure with total. The community is furnished with secure parking, swimming pools, gyms center, squash court and other diverse living facilities.

As this is the first project with Union Properties PJSC, the award of OIA Residence is a great start for building up the business relationship with another major developer in the local market.
