On 22nd November 2016, Dubai-based famous media group, CPI held the 2016 edition of the Big Project Middle East Construction and Sustainability Awards of Excellence at Emirates Tower, Dubai. President & CEO, Mr. Yu Tao won the Construction Executive of the Year Award. And the Dubai Water Canal Package II Project defeated many mega projects in the Middle East and won the Infrastructure Project of the Year Award.

After receiving the awards, Mr. Yu expressed that due to the lower oil prices, the construction industry in the Middle East is facing the challenge regarding tight cash flow and delayed payment. However, our management team has insisted on paying close attention to high quality and has good faith in compliance with delivering excellent projects. The success of winning these prominent awards are motivating us to deliver more high-quality projects in the following years.

Big Project Middle East’s Construction and Sustainability Awards of Excellence is an annual event aims to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the individual and leaders in the construction industry throughout the GCC as it strives to maintain the high standards and quality that it is renowned for across the world.

CSCEC (Middle East) (L.L.C) has received the Letter of Acceptance from Namaa Properties Development LLC to be the Main Contractor for Construction, Completion and Maintenance of Paramount Tower at Business Bay on 27th October 2016. The total contract value is AED 554 Million which is equivalent to 150 Million US Dollars.

The Paramount Tower, located nearby Burj Khalifa at Dubai Business Bay, is composed of 867-key luxury hotel rooms and hotel residences tower. The 64-storey project will offer a sky lobby with views across the Burj area, a private Paramount Pictures screening room, a rooftop infinity swimming pool with a terrace and a fitness and wellness centre with a state-of-the-art spa. The project is scheduled for completion in Q1 2020.

Namaa Properties Development LLC is owned by Damac Group. Awarding one of the most prestigious hospitality and residential project in the Middle East cements the further strong relationship between Damac Group and CSCEC ME.

Mr. Jin Lei, the Chinese Economic & Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, visited CSCEC Middle East( L.L.C) at morning of 15th , November for inspecting works.

Mr. Yu Tao, the President & CEO of CSCEC ME, expressed warm welcome to the team. During the visit, Mr. Yu Tao delivered a presentation regarding the overall business operation of CSCEC ME, especially emphasizing the achievements obtained in the Middle East. Mr. Yu also expressed the wishes on Chinese Consulate-General in Dubai would render further support to promote the infrastructure business and financial investment business development by following “One Belt and One Road” initiative.

Commercial Counsellor Mr. Jin highly appreciated the accomplishments CSCEC ME made. He expressed that he was proud of being a Chinese as these landmark buildings undertaken by CSCEC were seen as business cards to build up the branding of CSCEC and represent the image for Chinese companies. Besides, Mr. Jin committed to continue provide any possible assistance and business opportunity to CSCEC ME when undertaking future business development especially follow by “One Belt and One Road” initiative.

On 9th November 2016, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has inaugurated the second phase of the Dubai Water Canal Project. A number of senior officials, senior business leaders and other dignitaries attended the launch ceremony held in a peninsula, near the Jumeirah Beach Park. Mr. Yu Tao, President and CEO, Mr. Dong Wei, Vice President and Project leaders of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) were invited to attend this ceremony.

The Dubai Water Canal Project – Phase 2 commenced from 4th May 2014, having a total contract value in the sum of 105 Million US Dollars with 30 months period. The works for this project include two large-scale cross-canal urban overpasses, reconstruction of new and existing road worth 20 km, two pedestrian bridges, two elevators and reinforced earth retaining wall, parking lots, traffic lights, street lamps, drainage system for rain water and water supply, etc. As the canal will add six kilometers to Dubai’s waterfront, this essentially means there will be more spaces for recreational facilities, such as shopping mall, hotels, approximately 400 restaurants, luxury housings, walkways and cycling paths. It will therefore become a prominent urban & tourist landmark which has the capability to raise the profile of Dubai as a spectacular tourist attraction expected to attract more than 30 million visitors per annum.

The Dubai Water Canal Project – Phase 2 is one of the critical portions for the Dubai Water Canal Project as a whole. In this regard, the successful completion of the Project achieved a high appreciation and compliments from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and our client (RTA). This highlights the efficacy and productiveness of CSCEC ME in its performance in construction. The successful completion of Dubai Water Canal Package 2 lays the solid foundation for our corporation to undertake more high-end projects and this in turn will further expand the market for the civil and infrastructure works in the UAE.

The 7th Grand Edition of ABLF Awards 2016 was held at a well-attended event at the Palazzo Versace Dubai on 12 November, 2016. Some of the senior officials and business leaders participated in the event, who are mainly from Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, China, UK, and USA to celebrate sustainable leadership and enduring excellence at the Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) Awards 2016.

The opening address by HE Kamal Nath, Former Union Cabinet Minister, Government of India, and HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, introduced the theme for the ABLF 2016. On the theme of “Heroes of the Innovation Economy”, this year’s forum discussed the global economy of the twenty-first century demands innovation. An ever-changing environment challenges business to respond.

The ABLF selects one or several winners of the ABLF Outstanding Business Achiever Award according to influence, innovation and performance, etc. Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC Middle East won the “The ABLF Outstanding Business Achiever Award 2016”, which was a recognition of CSCEC ME’s innovative management mode and its excellent performance, as well as an endorsement of its management in terms of its collective wisdom and its ability to coordinate and integrate resources, CSCEC ME has become one of the prominent contractors in the UAE construction market.

The award was well received by Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, HE Dr Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, UAE, Irene Natividad from Global Summit of Women, and company leaders from some of most-renowned companies such as Mubadala, Emirates NBD, Dubai FDI, and etc.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East) L.L.C (CSCECME) awarded the contract for CONSTRUCTION of BID PARK 3B – Central Utility Plant 3 of Sabah Al -Salem University City -Kuwait University Project with contract value of KD 36.9 Million (equivalent to US $ 121 Million ) by Kuwait Central Tenders Committee on 25th Oct 2016.

The CUP3 project is consisting of Central Utility Plant 3, Workshop, Storage and Staff Facility Buildings, the CUP3 will be integrated with CUP 1 and CUP 2 to complete the utility requirements for Sabah Al-Salem University City.

Sabah Al-Salem University City of Kuwait University, Designed as one of the largest campuses on earth, will become a world class educational facilities equipped with most advanced learning resources. It is worth to be mentioned that CUP3 is the third project awarded to CSCEC from the same Client after been awarded the ACSF and ADFA projects and it is also the first infrastructure utility project contains sewage effluent treatment plant awarded to CSCEC in Kuwait Market.

As another break point of Middle East Regional Operation and compartmentalization, the success of CUP3 proves again the right direction of company’s marketing strategy of “Large Client, Big Market, and Great Project”.

This event took place from 27th October to 29th October 2016, Dubai Week at Shanghai, China. This is an initiative by Falcon and Associates, sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SMCC) to celebrate the connection and relationship on the future growth between China and Dubai.

Emirates Road Project received Construction Innovation Award of the best Infrastructure Initiative of the Year 2016 at the Construction Business News Awards for Projects held at Westin Mina Seyahi Hotel in Dubai on the 19th October.

The trophy was presented by Mr. Wissam Younane, CEO, BNC Publishing to Mr. Bao Jianguo, President Assistant of CSCEC ME, Mr. Adeeb Al Qaisi, Deputy General Manager of Infrastructure Division and Mr. Ashraf Amin, Senior Project Manager from RTA.

The ceremony was also attended by the senior representatives from Nakheel, Al Wasl Asset Management Group and other key engineering consultants contractors and suppliers.

This is the second cycle of the award and CSCEC ME has applied for six categories, where they have been shortlisted for majority of them but awarded the best project for the Innovation Award of Infrastructure Initiative of the Year.

The ceremony organized by the Construction Business News magazine, which is an emerging magazine in the MENA region, and have a widely varying geographically areas of coverage, and organized the majority of the key events related to the construction industry.


From September 22nd to 26th, the delegation of CSCEC’s Board of Directors including Independent Directors Mr. Zheng Hu, Mr. Zhong Ruiming, Mr. Yang Chunjin and Mr. Meng Qingyu, Secretary of Board of Directors visited CSCEC ME.

On behalf of CSCEC ME, Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO, extended his warm welcome to the delegation of board of directors and made a presentation regarding the overall operational development of CSCEC ME as well as introduced the business model of project financing and investment for CSCEC ME.

After the presentation, the board of directors spoke very highly about the achievement CSCEC ME had obtained. Mr. Zheng Hu was deeply impressed that CSCEC ME had become a noted contractor in the Middle East after a decade’s development. He was happy to see that CSCEC ME, as one of CSCEC’s overseas operations had strength in internal management system and strategy, internationalization and legal affairs. Mr. Zhong Ruiming, Mr. Yang Chunjin and Mr. Meng Qingyu had also expressed their recognition to CSCEC ME’s achievement. They hoped that CSCEC ME would further accelerate the business transformation of project financing and investment to a larger extent.

During their visit, the delegation of CSCEC’s board of directors visited Madam Li Lingbing, the Chinese Consul-General in Dubai. They also inspected Abu Dhabi International Airport MTB-Steel Works Project, Dubai Water Canal Project and Viceroy Hotel Project.
