CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) Awarded the MEP Sub-contract Works of Dubai Airport Concourse 4 Project
2013, CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) and BK Gulf have signed the Joint Venture Agreement for the MEP Sub-contract Works of Dubai Airport Concourse 4 project. The Client is Dubai Airport Aviation Corporation, and the main contractor is ALEC (Al Jaber LEGT Engineering & Contracting). The construction area of Concourse 4 is 149,000 square meters, with a height of 28 meters. The project also includes 17 aircraft stands. The overall project duration is 28 months and the duration of MEP installation is 18 months.
The scope of the MEP contract includes the water supply and drainage system, fire fighting system, HVAC system, HV, LV, ELV systems, etc.
The project will be challenging due to the high grade specifications, advanced construction technology and the difficulties involved in coordinating the works.
The project will be operated with full integration between CSCEC and BK Gulf. This is the first time that the MEP Division has undertaken a large-scale and high-end public project in the Middle East region. This is a major achievement for CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) following the reformed business strategy and another significant breakthrough for MEP Division to undertake an external project independently.
CSCEC ranked top 80th among Fortune Global 500, 2013
At 20:00hrs on July 8th, “Fortune” magazine released its 2013 Fortune 500 list. The newly released Fortune Global 500 list shows that China State Construction Engineering Corporation (hereinafter referred to as CSCEC) is ranked number 80. CSCEC’s annual turnover grew enormously to US$ 90.6 Billion resulting in the company rising 20 places having previously entered the Top 100 in 2012. CSCEC is also ranked 11th amongst the 95 Chinese companies on the list (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) by Fortune Global 500.
The scale of international contractors remains steady. The Spanish group ACS is ranked at No. 202 with an annual turnover of US$ 50.1 Billion, moving up 38 places from 240th. The French company Vinci is ranked at No. 203with annual turnover of US$ 49.6 Billion, moving down 20 from 183rd. Another French construction giant Bouygues, whose turnover is US$ 43.3 Billion, is ranked at 240th, moving down 22 places compared with its previous position of 218th. The American Fluor rose 51 places to No. 422 by achieving US$ 27.6 Billion annual turnover.
CSCEC was first ranked in Fortune Global 500 in 2006 when it was ranked 486th, and it has risen every year since as follows: 396th, 385th, 292nd, 187th, 147th, 100th, and 80th according to the statistics of Fortune Global 500.

National Bank of Kuwait-New Head Quarter Project
CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) (hereinafter referred to as CSCEC ME (L.L.C)) has received the letter of Acceptance from AHMADIAH CONTRACTING & TRADING Co. KCSC recently, which is awarding the steel structure subcontract of Completion of National Bank of Kuwait-New Head Quarter to CSCEC ME (L.L.C).
The National Bank of Kuwait-New Head Quarter Project with the building height of about 300 meters, ground 56 floors, underground 3 layers, is located in Kuwait City financial center. The total weight of the steel structure of this Project is about 25000 tons. The project design concept originated from Pearl and shell, which is in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency USGBC LEED Gold Certification standard design construction, and fully considered of the energy-saving and environmental protection performance. The Project will be the first with a LEED Gold Certified building in Kuwait, which will be another landmark building constructed by CSCEC ME (L.L.C) in the Middle East.
The National Bank of Kuwait-New Head Quarter Project is the first project that CSCEC ME (L.L.C) successful practices overseas strategic cooperation with CSCEC Steel Structure in Kuwait. The successful bid of this project highly recognized CSCEC Steel Structure’s structure fabrication and installation capacity in the Middle East, but also fully embodied the famous brand benefit and good reputation that our Company has accumulated over the years in the Middle East.
The Successful Handover of Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital Project
Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital Project, contracted by Joint Venture (China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East LLC and MCM), successfully passed the joint acceptance conducted by the Federal Ministry of Public Works (MOPW) and the Ministry of Health with the total acceptance rate of 95, an extremely higher score than the normal passing rate, and the completed project was also highly appraised by the MOPW inspectors. The successful completion stands as a symbol of great breakthrough for the CSCEC Middle East in contracting projects in the health sector in the UAE.
Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital, locating in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, is a hospital mainly specialized in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The total area consists of four major parts: the main building of 62,246 square meters; service block of 5,902 square meters; the fence wall, roads and plantations of 200,000 square meters. After the completion, the hospital will provide 248 patient sickbeds including 7 VIP rooms with the most advanced medical equipment, high standard decoration, sufficient plantations and parking lots. Besides, two helipads are also available for emergencies and VIPs.
Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital Project was completed within the contractual schedule. No contractual dispute occurred during the whole execution of the works, which has gained deep trust from our Client MOPW. To be specifically mentioned is that during the construction period, the project was reported and highly appraised by the local mainstream media Al Ittihad Newspaper; meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has visited the site with high recognition. Thereafter, CSCEC were consecutively granted with three more MOPW-invested projects in the UAE.
The Legal Affairs Department of CSCEC Middle East Won Awards at Prestigious ‘Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards 2013’
China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East) (L.LC) won two Awards which are the `Legal Department of the Year – Middle East’ and `Innovation of the Year – Middle East’ at the prestigious Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards 2013 Event held in The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina on the 16th of May 2013.
This Award was hosted by Corporate Counsel Middle East and Legal Week (organisers of The British Legal Awards). There were numerous legal departments and law firms applying for it, such as our partners: The global investment holding company `Dubai Holding’ and the famous Real Estate Company in Middle East – `Damac Properties’. However, only a few were nominated to attend the ceremony. The competitors for our categories were Dell (the major computer company), Herbert Smith Freehills (one of the largest UK law firm), Gulf Finance House Capital (very large investment company), QInvest (leading investment bank in Qatar) and Dubai Aviation City Corporation which is owned by the Government of Dubai and part of Dubai World Central.
After the Awards ceremony, a large number of personnel in the legal profession from 25 law firms and corporate legal departments who attended this ceremony extended their congratulations to CSCEC. The award-winning results will be published on websites and also in local newspapers and magazines. This will not only increase our Company’s reputation in the Middle East, but also fully reflect the outstanding work and notable performance of our Company’s Legal Affairs Department when compared to other international companies. These two awards will also encourage and motivate all staff to make more contributions to our Company.
The Doha Tower Project of CSCEC Middle East Winner of MEED Quality Awards for Projects 2013
CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) was awarded two awards at the MEED Quality Awards Ceremony (1) ‘National Winner of Building Project of the Year 2013’ and (2) ‘GCC Winner of Building Project of the Year 2013’ that was held in Abu Dhabi Project Jumeirah Etihad Tower on May 14th, 2013. CSCEC received this award ‘GCC Winner of Building Project of the Year 2013’ in spite competing against other strong competitors among them the Abu Dhabi Jumeirah Etihad Tower.
Up to date, The Doha Tower project has been awarded ‘Best Tall Building Worldwide’ and ‘Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa’, ‘National Winner of Building Project of the Year’ and ‘GCC Winner of Building Project of the Year’. These awards greatly enhance the CSCEC reputation in the international arena, especially in the Middle East region.
After the awarding ceremony, Mr. Yu Tao, CSCEC Middle East President & CEO, accepted an exclusive interview with the organizing committee. He stated that “the Winning of the Doha Tower project is the result of the great support of our headquarters and the hard work of the project management team. It fully demonstrates the outstanding construction quality and construction skills of CSCEC and we have confidence and ability to build more high-quality projects in the Middle East region”.
Mr. Yu Tao Attended the Global and Local Challenges Shaping the UAE Construction Sector Seminar
Mr. Yu Tao, President & CEO of CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C), invited by BUID and attended The global and local challenges shaping the UAE construction sector seminar in the British University in Dubai on April 15th, 2013.Mr. Yu Tao addressed a keynote speech on The Overseas Business Expansion of CSCEC at the seminar. Attendees from international contractors, consultants, researchers, educators showed lots of their interests in the operation of CSCEC group and CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) in particular.
The “Global and Local Challenges Shaping the UAE Construction Sector Seminar” is initiated and organized by the British University in Dubai, aimed at to create a communication platform and provide the value advices for the government administration , contractor, property developer and scientific research institution in U.A.E. The relevant government departments, property developer and the contractor representatives from GCC countries attended this seminar.
CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) Awarded Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital Project
On 10th March 2013, CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) (hereinafter referred to as CSCEC ME (L.L.C)) duly received the Letter of Acceptance from the Federal Ministry of Public Works of UAE, which is awarding the contract of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital to CSCEC ME (L.L.C) .
Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital is a state-of-the-art 270 bed mental health campus, located in Dubai and invested by Ministry of Public Works. This project lays on a plot with an area of 107,633 square meters comprises of one 2-storey outpatient building, six post-hospitalization buildings, central plant buildings together with other service buildings and the total floor area is 54,418 square meters. The project is based on a Main Contractor contract and the period will be 900 calendar days. CSCEC ME (L.L.C) will undertake the civil, finishing and MEP works of all the buildings, procurement & installation of medical equipment and medical furniture as well as all the external infrastructure and landscaping works.
Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital is another breakthrough achievement of CSCEC ME (L.L.C) in the medical and health sector of UAE, along with the satisfactory execution of the Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital and Rashid Abdulla Omran Hospital in RAK. In addition, the successful bid of this project is obviously the inevitable outcome of our development strategy and excellent business record obtained previously & continuously, which takes those projects financed by the federal & local governments as our operational priorities.

Al Falah Interchange Project
On 31th March 2013, CSCEC Middle East (L.L.C) (hereinafter referred to as CSCEC ME (L.L.C)) duly received the Letter of Acceptance from the Department Of Transport of Abu Dhabi, which is awarding the contract of Completion of Al Falah Interchange to CSCEC ME (L.L.C) .
The Completion of Al Falah Interchange consists of construction of approximately 10.4km roads, 4 bridges, 1 underpass, 4 culverts, street lighting, utilities protection and electrical & drainage works. The project target is to complete the existing Al Falah Interchange to accommodate the future traffic requirement at the project area.
The Department of Transport is one of the most important Clients in Abu Dhabi and in the UAE as well. The successful bid of this project further consolidates business of CSCEC ME (L.L.C) in the field of civil& infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, which takes those projects financed by the federal & local governments as our operational priorities.
So far, civil & infrastructure business of CSCEC ME (L.L.C) almost cover all the relevant Federal & local Authorities at various levels in the UAE such as Road and Transport of Authority of Dubai, Ministry of Public Works of UAE, Abu Dhabi Municipally and Abu Dhabi General Services Company PJSC Trading as MUSANADA and Department of Transport, etc.
